The Photo diode is ability to perform task is to convert light energy into electrical energy .possible to generates follow of free electrons (Currents).in the circuit.It is semi conductor device or components and have p and n junction Photo diode and it is a passive component.

 

 

 

Working principle of Photo diode.

This Photo diode is operate if that terminal are connected in to Reverse bias condition that means, the Positive terminal of the photo diode is attached to the Negative Electric Source of supply, and the other side of terminal photo diode is attached to the positive Electrical source of supply.

Sensitivity

This device is more sensitive to work at light So, If light can be place into the photo diode then photo diode observe and detect light to have flow the the electric source through the terminals ,normally the photo diode is opened in contacts.

Same like Solar cell, solar cell is also convert solar energy in to electrical energy, and solar cell have work depend on high intensity of lights and photo diode operated to just minor light and this sensitivity performance increase and decrease with the help of potentiometer like variable Resistance and have working complete circuits attachment for other electronic components like Capacitor, Transistor, Inductors, and passive and Active components of the circuits.

Working and Operation Of Photo diode.

In normal condition the simple diode, voltage can be used to conduct to follow of free electrons current and the other hand photo diode both of the electrical source and lights to be used to perform task and have possible to flow of free electrons. in the conductor or device.

Operating Method of Photo diode.

It is operated in to Two Methods.

    1. PHOTO VOLTAIC METHOD.
    2. PHOTO CONDUCTIVE METHOD.

Photo Voltaic Method.

This method can be used for this device is unbiased, In other hand nothing required Electrical source or outer source voltage is applied under Photo voltaic method.

In this method ,Dark flow of free electron (current) is very less and have ability to perform low speed.

It is simply used for less velocity speed gadgets or it is for detecting less levels of lights to be operated in this method.

Photo Conductive Method.

This method is required on outer source opposite bias voltage to photo diode , when applying a reverse bias electric source (V), Extend the size of depletion region and decrease the junction capacitance and result is fastest speed response to operation, In this phenomenon the opposite or reverse bias also extended dark current (I).

And it is high sound current ,That is due to reverse saturation follow of free electrons current inside the photo diode.

What is dark Current.

It is minor current to leak in the flow for this device in the absence of light, The dark current increase when component temperature increasing.
