That is an electrical gadget or electrical instrument that can be measured or calculated voltage, In other words, an electric potential is calculated with the help of a voltmeter.
How to measured voltage?
That instrument have two leads and if you measure voltage, the two leads are connected and joint to parallel to the circuit.
working Principle of the voltmeter
This big principle of the voltmeter is to be connected in parallel, then the power of impedance becomes parallel with very high resistance of the voltage meter and the hence compare will be almost the same the impedance and load. As the parallel circuit, We know that the potential difference is the same as the voltage between the voltage meter and the load is almost the same , and to become voltage meter calculated the voltage.

- Induction types .
- Electrostatic types voltmeter.
- Moving iron (MI).
- Rectifier Types.
- Permanent magnet Moving coil (PMMC).
- Digital .
- Electro Dynamometer types.
According that types of voltmeter we have,
- AC .
For DC voltmeters PMMC instruments are used, MI instrument can measure both AC and DC voltages, electrodynamometer type, thermal instrument can measure DC and AC voltages also . Induction meters aren’t used due to their high cost, inaccuracy in measurement. Rectifier type voltmeter, electrostatic type and also electronic voltmeter (DVM) can measure both AC and DC voltages.

The electronic voltmeter is an instrument which may give the output voltage not by deflection but directly indicating the worth . It is a very good instrument to measure the voltage as it eliminates completely the error due to parallax, approximation in measurement, high-speed reading can be done and it can also be stored in memory for further analysis. The main principle is that the value is measured by the same circuit arrangement but that value is not used to deflect the pointer, but it is fed to the analog to digital converter and displayed because the digital value.
